I'm currently working on a rig to set up a Calls ingest for multiple bands (VHF conventional, UHF 450-470 conventional and trunking, and 700/800 trunking) along with a couple conventional scanner feeds. My current discone seems rather lackluster but it's been in the air for quite a while, and seems to have zero reception on 7/800 even though I'm about 4 miles from the nearest site. I'm looking for suggestions for antennas that will work well for multiple bands. Trying to stay cheap, but I'm also not opposed to getting separate VHF/UHF and 7/800 antennas eventually.. Current choice looks to be the Sirio SD 2000N.. I've had good luck with some of their other offerings fro other purposes. I am also tinkering with a unity gain cable TV amplifier to send to multiple SDR's as well which might help offset losses a little.

Separate band specific antennas work better than all in one.
But if you want a single antenna, one option is to use a multiband mobile with a base station adapter:

I'd skip the discones. Mediocre performance at best, and it gets worse as you go up in frequency. The only benefit of the discone is the wide bandwidth.

I wasn't sure if it was worth trying to do one for all or not. I may just pick up antennas for all three bands since they're going to separate SDR's anyways. Or technically I could triplex them into one line.. not sure if that would be any tangible benefit though.

If it's separate bands for separate SDR's, then go with band specific antennas for each one. Don't try to triplex them and then split them apart again unless you have a really long coax run. No reason to add complexity and cost.
