If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Upgrading my PPS for my G5.

I'm considering upgrading the PPS that I'm using to program my G5. The G5 currently has firmware version 1.32 so I think that the firmware does not need to be changed to accommodate PPS Version 4.

Currently I'm using PPS Version 03.16 that is marked as Beta24 from 2021. I have much in the G5 currently that includes portions of Ohio, Michigan and Indiana, so I don't want to have to do all of that work over again. Could I export my codeplug and then import it into the Version 4 PPS without having to do all of my work over again? Or do I need to start over and build a completely new codeplug? If starting over again is the only option I'll probably decide not to upgrade at this time.

I just recently got a used pager that I think had 1.32 firmware on it and I had no problem reading that pager with the Version 4 PPS. I'd export it just to be safe however in case some fluke comes up along the way.

Whatever you do, don't change your firmware to anything above V1.35!

As far as PPS, you will need to build from scratch, but It's not too terrible to accomplish. Just download the newest version and let it read from the pager to get started. Not all info is compatible, so you will need to export stuff from the older version, modify to your liking, and then import the files the new one.

One thing that's nice is the fact that you can open both versions of PPS at the same time. You can either do a split screen, or open into different workspaces to get a side by side comparison between the two.

I agree .. just review the mixed experiences regarding 2x FW or PPS 4xx on this board ..my G5 has been on PPS 1.36 for over two years with no problems .. based on directions , exporting previous PPS to 4xx or FW 2xx is not recommended.. as many of its new features are not compatible.

I just got a used one and put it on 1.35 and, it's working fine. (was on 1.32 I "think". Thanks to you I have 1.35. A few months ago, I went and upgraded to 2.02 on the original 2 G5's and while I didn't have any "issues". It seems the 2.02 one I have sitting here next to one with 1.35 on it just behaves somewhat differently. (maybe a little more lag or something can't quite place it). I don't do any alerts or tones or anything fancy, just use it as a monitor. (don't even record with it).

I've never had the older PPS started my Unication Journey only last September I think it was so the old one wasn't available when I started this. All of my Pagers are older, from 2016 and 2017 from what I can place with warranty checks.

I feel I may downgrade at least one more to 1.35, frankly it does everything I need and I can see no functional changes in anything from 1.35 and 2.02.

I've got a G4 and had to send it back to Unication for the toggle repair and it was on 2.02 when I got it back it seemed or, at least I don't remember putting that on there. They actually repaired the pager I sent in, and just fixed it and sent it back, it wasn't a replacement.
